Catherine A. Barleen

Catherine A. Barleen, born on May 1, 1949, and who departed this world on February 25, 2025, leaves behind a legacy of warmth, kindness, and joy that will forever resonate in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her. A truly vibrant soul, she possessed an innate ability to light up any room with her radiant smile and infectious laughter.

A lover of life, Catherine found her greatest joys in the simple pleasures. Her fondness for the beach heralded a love for the serenity of the ocean waves, where she would often find solace and inspiration. She delighted in spending precious moments with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, cherishing every opportunity to create lasting memories with her family. These gatherings were filled with laughter, stories, and love, a testament to her nurturing spirit.

Catherine's culinary curiosity was boundless; she relished going out to eat and exploring new restaurants, always eager to share her discoveries with others. Her zest for life extended to her hobbies, where she found delight in walking, watching her cherished television shows, and expressing herself through singing and dancing. Each of these passions painted a vibrant tapestry of her spirit, characterized by joy and whimsy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Catherine and Joseph Morris; sister, Lillian "Sissy" Mathis; brother, Tommy Morris, Joseph Morris and George Morris.

Catherine leaves behind to cherish her memories, are her husband, Eddie Barleen; daughters, Jessica Sheppard and Erica (Steve) Miller; grandsons, Gage, Tristan, Kieron and Brayden; great-grandchildren, Shaylin and Landen; siblings, Victor Morris, Carolyn Schamback, Marge Pence and Kenny Morris and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. 

Catherine's journey in this life will be honored through a series of services that celebrate her remarkable existence. Visitation will take place at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Louisville, on March 5, 2025, from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM. A Funeral Service will follow on March 6, 2025, at 12pm, also at Newcomer Funeral Home, concluding with a Graveside Service at Bethany Cemetery.
