Carolyn Sue Mckinney

Carolyn Sue "Carol" (Smitson) McKinney, 79, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, March 1, 2023. She retired from Samtec and, upon her retirement, began a second career at Caesar's Resort & Casino. Carol was a wonderful person with a heart of gold; she was loved by many and will be deeply missed.

She was born on April 22, 1943, in Cannelton, Indiana, to Dallas and Hilda (Lamar) Smitson. In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow "Woody" McKinney.

Carol is survived by her children, Darin and Sandy McKinney; sister, Roz Pickett; grandchildren, Tony Judd, Kurtis Murphy, Travis McKinney, and Amber McKinney; great-grandchildren, Destiny Judd, Riley Judd, William Murphy, Amelia Judd, Izzy Murphy, Spencer Murphy, and Elleigh McKinney; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 5, 2023, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and on Monday after 9:00 a.m. Her funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery.
