Carol Ann Rawert Trainer, age 77 of Prospect, Kentucky passed away on Friday, February 28, 2025 at home surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on March 22, 1947 to the late Norbert and Alma Pierce Rawert. Carol earned a Bachelors degree and Masters Degree from USC. She spoke fluent Japanese and as an Air Force Veteran she proudly was a member of Veterans For Peace and Louisville Peace Action Community. While in the military, she met the love of her life and there they were, two young Air Force members traveling all night from Louisiana to Louisville to be married and start a world wide adventure. They traveled and lived widely in countries such as Vietnam, Thailand, Japan, Asia, Europe and all over the United States. After many years of travel and life in California, they came back to Louisville, the place they started their married lives... and Carol's home. She loved Louisville and being home. Carol was a Catholic by faith and a member of Epiphany Catholic Church.
Though both Carol and Harold found it hard to believe that 58 years have passed, their love story included happiness, joy, death, war, travel, success and failure, education and a great deal of adventure. It was amazing to think of the so many ups and downs, good and bad, sickness and health, and the joys and happiness. In the midst of this there was a dog named Pax. Carol also authored a published book by the title "As Always, Norb", a story of her father in World War 2, landing on Normandy Beach and fighting his way to Belgium. She was also voted one of "One Hundred Fascinating Women of Louisville". While not a perfect life it was very good. How fortunate for Harold to find and marry his wonderful wife, Carol. They both looked forward to future years and a life of love and peace. Wow, what a journey!
In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her son, Ryan W. Trainer who passed September 30, 1984.
Carol is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Harold Trainer; their loving children, Kristianne and Natasha; and 4 wonderful grandkids, Dillon, Taya, Aidon and Makenzie. She is also survived by a host of relatives and many friends.
Visitation will be on 10am to 11am on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 at Epiphany Catholic Church, 914 Old Harrods Creek Rd, Louisville, KY 40223, with a Mass of Celebration there at 11am. Burial will follow at Zachary Taylor National Cemetery, 4701 Brownsboro Rd, Louisville, KY 40207 with military honors.
The family requests donations in Carol's honor can be made to Coalition for The Homeless or to Veterans For Peace.
"A Mother's Love"
A mother's love is like a circle,
it has no beginning and no ending.
It keeps going around and around, ever expanding,
touching everyone who comes in contact with it.
Engulfing them like a morning's mist,
warming them like the noontime sun,
and covering them like a blanket of evening stars.
