Carol E. Sweet

Carol E. Sweet, 78, of Clarksville, Indiana, passed away on Monday, January 15, 2024. Carol was a proud member of the First Church of The Nazarene and VFW Post #1693. She loved the Lord, her family and her country. Carol enjoyed long car rides with scenic views, being the planner of the family, the Butler Bulldogs, good movies as long as there were no "cuss words", and her dog Figaro.

Carol was born on July 26, 1945 in New Albany, Indiana to the late George and Orpha (House) Hoover. The Hoover family grew up on the west end of New Albany (the poor side of town) and she wore it as a badge of honor. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend at every moment of everyday. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Jerry W. Sweet, Jr.; brother, Everett Hoover; and sister, Joy Chism.

Carol is survived by her loving husband, Jerry W. Sweet; daughter, Nancy Sweet (Mike) Cummings; grandson, Ty J. (Kayla) Elliott; granddaughter, Taylor J. Elliott; two sisters, Theresa Hoover and Lisa Kestler; and was also anticipating a bundle of joy, a great grandchild in August 2024.

Visitation will be from 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Sunday, January 21, 2024 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, Indiana 47150) and Monday, January 22, 2024 from 1:00pm until the time of service. Her Funeral Service will be at 2:00 pm on Monday, January 22, 2024 at the funeral home with burial to follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Greenville, Indiana.

The family requests that contributions in Carol's memory be made to Clark Rehab and Skilled Nursing Center or Rauch Inc. of New Albany, Indiana, supporting people with disabilities and their families.
