Carol R. (Reno) Howard, of New Albany passed away on Friday, June 17, 2011 surrounded by loved ones. Carol retired from VFW Post 3281 as a bartender and was a former waitress at Tommy Lancaster's Restaurant in New Albany.
She was born on December 24, 1939 to the late Morris and Clara (Cunningham) Reno. She is also preceded in death by her husband, John Howard.
Carol is survived by her children, Starr Pavey and her husband, William and Charles T. Rightnour and his wife, Kennette; grandchildren, Charlie Nicole, Christian, and Amanda; and great granddaughter-to-be, Sue Anna Rose. Carol also leaves behind a good friend and helper, Eva Hubbard and Bingo Buddy, Charles W. Rightnour.
The family extends special gratitude to the employees of Vic's Café for their kindness.
Visitation will be from 12 to 6 PM on Sunday, June 19, 2011 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). Her Funeral Service will be at 10 AM on Monday in the Paul F. Kraft, Sr. Memorial Chapel at the funeral home with burial to follow at the New Albany National Cemetery.
Carol requested no flowers. Expressions of sympathy may be made by planting a tree in her and John's names or donations to WHAS Crusade for Children (520 West Chestnut Street, Louisville, KY 40202) or to Alley Cat Advocates (3044 Bardstown Road, Suite 204, Louisville, KY 40205-3020).
