Carol Jean Hellinger

Carol Jean Hellinger, 88, of Clarksville, Indiana, passed away on Friday, September 1, 2023. Carol was an avid scrabble and card player. She enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking, and traveling. Carol was a proud member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church and volunteered at the school.

She was born on November 19, 1934 in Louisville, Kentucky to John and Millie (Reiss) Young. Carol is preceded in death by her husband, Martin Frederick Hellinger; parents; sons, Marty Hellinger and Mickey Hellinger; daughter, Carol Lynn Hardman; sisters, Laverne Bolander and Virgina Hagan; and brother, John Young.

Carol is survived by her loving children, Gina Ober, David (Teresa) Hellinger, Lisa (Tommy) Leister, and Terri (Harry) Hibbs; 17 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and sister, Judy Cologate.

Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, September 7, 2023 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, Indiana) with a Rosary at 7:00 pm. Her Funeral Mass will be at 1:00 pm on Friday, September 8, 2023 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Clarksville, Indiana with burial to follow at Louisville Memorial Gardens-West in Louisville, Kentucky .

The family requests that contributions in Carol's memory be made to American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.
