Carlos Wayne Vance, 64, passed away on Sunday, February 18, 2024 in Louisville, Kentucky. He was born on October 6, 1959, in Evansville, Indiana, where he spent many years of his life before later moving to New Albany, Indiana. He is survived by his daughters, Kathryn, Kristan, and Janyna, as well as many grandchildren, siblings, nieces and nephews.
He was a lifelong fan of Indiana University basketball, and some of his favorite sports memories come from the "Bobby Knight era." Rivaling his passion for the Hoosiers is his love for Dallas Cowboys football. His dedication to his teams never wavered, in the good seasons and the bad. He could find joy in watching any sporting event, no matter how big or small, from semi-pro bowling to March Madness. He had an uncanny recall of sports facts and trivia, and loved to discuss with fellow sports fans.
His family meant the world to him, and he loved to tell anyone and everyone about his pride for his daughters. His face lit up the room when he talked about them, and he cherished sharing memories with them over the years.
Carlos' wish was to be cremated and a reception of family and friends will be from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany).
Near and dear to his heart was St. Jude Hospital, donating to them any chance he had. To honor his life, the family suggests a donation to
St. Jude Hospital.
