Carl Broughton, 85, of Sellersburg, passed away peacefully on November 16, 2012, surrounded by his loving family.
Carl was born on January 12, 1927, in Mills, Kentucky. He served in the United States Army during World War II and was stationed in Berlin, Germany. He retired from ICI America. He was a member of the American Legion Post 204.
Carl leaves to cherish his memory, his daughter, Brenda K. Niehaus (Mark); long time companion, Donna Crawford; sister, Dica Simpson; brothers, Ernest Jackson (Elaine), Virgil Jackson (Pat), Charles Jackson (Connie), Kelly Jackson; grandchildren, Carl & William Kannapel, Mathew Niehaus; & 3 great-grandchildren. Carl was preceded in death by his wife, Virgie Smith of eastern Kentucky, and 4 siblings, Bill Hopkins, Hazel Petrey, Paul Hopkins, & Jewell Jackson.
Visitation will be from 12 Noon to 7 PM Sunday, November 18, 2012 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Ln., New Albany). His Funeral Service will be held Monday at 11 AM at the funeral home with burial immediately following at Sellersburg Cemetery.
Contributions in his memory may be made to American Legion Post 204 of Sellersburg (412 New Albany Street, Sellersburg, IN 47172).
