Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Roger Harlan Berry (Dot) and Charles ¨Russell¨ Berry (Juanita) and one sister, Ruth Fogleman (Joe) and one grandson Preston Foushee. Carl is survived by his ¨sweetheart¨ wife, Nina (Webb) Berry of 66 years, four children, Jimmy Carl Berry (Jennifer), Larry Douglas Berry (Karen), Linda Sue Foushee (Vince), and Sandra Leigh Proctor (Danny); a loving Papaw to 14 grandchildren, Steve Berry, Mike Berry, Kristie Senn (Lee), Kevin Berry (Kristal), Mandy Rogers (Ty), Lacie Riddle (Amber), Kyle Burke (Allison), Kylie Foushee, Ashton Foushee (George), Gennifer Graham (Johnny), Laura Proctor, Lindsey Shields and Danny Ray Proctor Jr.; 2 step grandchildren, Jordan Goff (Eric) and Lucas Nalley; and 28 beautiful great-grandchildren. He leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness (and an excellent pancake recipe) to all who knew him.
Carl retired from CSX (L&N) Railroad after more than 30 years as a switchman. He was a devoted father and grandfather who passed down his talents and competitive nature to his family, whether it be race car driving, golf, baseball, or any sport the grandchildren found interest in. He was a talented switch-hitter and shortstop for many years on various baseball teams and a locally well-known baseball coach who touched many young lives for Valley Sports Little League. In his later years, you could often find him perched in ¨his chair¨ rooting for and commentating University of Kentucky basketball games on TV.
He will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing and loving him. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in memory of Carl to Hosparus Health of Louisville (3532 Ephraim McDowell Dr, Louisville, KY 40205).
