Butler Gadd

June 12, 1959 — January 15, 2023

Buck Gadd went peacefully to be with his Savior and Lord on Sunday at 9:55pm on January 15, 2023, with his family by his side. He was born June 12,1959 in Pewee Valley, Kentucky. He was one of three children of Henry and Edna Gadd. Buck was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle. He will be missed by everyone who knew and loved him.

Buck loved playing with the grandchildren, fishing, fighting fires, ROTC, woodworking, guitar playing, singing, collecting Hot Wheels and antiques, his dog Ralph, his church, his family and aggravating the family all in fun. He loved reunions with the Gadd family. He was a volunteer firefighter with the Prospect Fire Department for approximately 10 years. He was always there for his family and friends when they needed him. He loved Pleasant Grove Baptist Church who was our family.

Buck, Charleen and our family's journey began December 31, 2015. His right lung collapsed. From that point on he was on oxygen 24/7. He became disabled and had to give up his business Buck's Hardwood Flooring. In August 2020 he was in so much back pain that he contacted Hosparus Health for relief from his End Stage COPD. Hosparus Health prolonged his life and relieved his pain. The last 6 months he had 7 fractures repaired in his back which caused him a lot more pain that Hosparus Health Palliative Care was not able to completely control. They were awesome and gave Buck and his family 2 and a 1/2 more years of memories with him. Buck is preceded in death by his parents, Henry Howard Gadd and Edna Margaret Gadd; brother, Blaine Gadd; sister-in-law, Anita Gadd; grandparents, William Butler Gadd and Martha Gadd; grandparents, William Henry Young and Joyce Ann Pennington Young; and a great-granddaughter, Serenity Ann McKinney.

Buck is survived by his wife Charleen Gadd of 29 ½ years; daughter, Melody Gadd Roller (Chad); sons, Lucas Sawyers (Molly), Travis Thornton (Caitlin), Scott Thornton (Jennifer) and Brian Thornton. He is also survived by his grandchildren, David Roller, Dylan Roller, Adelaide Sawyers, Lorne Sawyers, Natallie Thornton, Michael Thornton, Corey Thornton, Liam Thornton, Riley Chilton and Dreagon Chilton; sister, Kay Duke; uncles, aunts nieces and nephews; and a host of family and friends.

Visitation will be 2 to 6pm on Sunday, January 22, 2023 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, East Louisville Chapel, 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, Kentucky 40243 and also from 11am to 1pm at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church 13800 Aiken Rd, Louisville, KY 40245.
