Buell Van Zant

Ray Van Zant, 72, went to be with his Heavenly Father on October 1, 2013. He was retired from LG&E and was an Army Veteran serving in the Vietnam War. The apple of Ray's, "Papaw" eyes were his 2 grandsons, Clay and Cole. He also loved following his Holy Cross Cougars (Clay) and Louisville Titans (Cole). Papaw was a dedicated fan that never missed a chance to see his boy's play ball.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Christine Van Zant.

Ray is survived by his only child, Melissa (Scott) McMichael; grandson's, Clay and Cole McMichael; twin brother and best friend, Gay "Louie" Van Zant and devoted sister, Jacquelin (William) Clark.

Visitation for Ray will be Thursday, October 3, from 4pm-8pm at Newcomer Funeral Home SW Louisville Chapel (10304 Dixie Highway). Funeral services are Friday, October 4, at 10:00am at the chapel of Newcomer Funeral Home.

Interment will be at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery, 2501 North Dixie Blvd., Radcliff, KY
