Bridget Geneva Kimbrough, 74, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, September 9, 2023. Bridget was a loving, devoted, hard working mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was funny, enjoyed shopping, a wonderful cook and witty up until the very end. Bridget loved her church and her church family, and enjoyed her Bible study and Sunday School. She retired from Jefferson County Public Schools and Jefferson County Youth Detention Center. Bridget will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing her.
She was born on October 12, 1948 in Belvidere, Tennessee to Louis and Susie (Fuqua) Martin. She is preceded in death by her mother, Susie Brazelton; father, Louis Martin; and siblings, Louis Martin, Emma Shepard, and Ronnie Martin.
Bridget is survived by her loving family, daughters, Kimberly (Mark) Carter, Yashica (Samuel) Porter; grandchildren, Mark (Ni'Kimbra) Carter, Jr., Leon (Samantha) Carter, Chancie McKenna, Lundynn Porter, Samuel Porter; sister-in-law, Edith Martin; four great-grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends to cherish her loving memory forever.
Visitation will be on Thursday, September 21, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Baptized Pentecostal Church of Holiness, 1606 West Chestnut Street, Louisville, Kentucky. A Celebration of her Life will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday at Baptized Pentecostal Church of Holiness.
The family requests that contributions in Bridget's memory be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation or the Louisville Urban Christian Academy.
