Brenda Joy Majeski, age 73, of Louisville, Kentucky, left this earth in peace on June 10th, 2022. She was predeceased by her father, Richard Vetter, her mother, Anna Jean Peterson, her step father Pete Peterson, her ex-husband, Michael Charles Majeski, and three of her 6 siblings: Mark Peterson, Michael Peterson, and Jim Peterson. She is survived by her son and only child, Brian Alan Majeski (Colleen Lyon), her grandson, Sorin Michael Majeski-Lyon, her brothers Dave and Gordon Peterson, and her only sister, Lee Ann Peterson Bennett. finally by her sixteen year old dog, her beloved "CoCo".
Brenda graduated from Angela Merici High School (Louisville, KY), studied at Western Michigan University, and completed an Associates Degree in Medical Administration at Jefferson County Community College. Her work included front office and general accounting positions in family medicine, orthopedic, physical therapy, mental health, and eventually at a local nursing home at Atria Springdale (Vitality) for her last 10 years of life. Given her son is an architect, he was proud of her when she took on a position at Luckett & Farley Architects (Louisville) for a couple of years in mid-2000's.
Growing up in Louisville, Brenda later ventured to live in different part of the west and as far as the Rocky Mountains. Marrying Michael Majeski (in the early 1970's), she moved to Muskegon, MI. Upon their divorce, Brenda moved back to Louisville with her son. In 1990, she moved to the suburbs of Detroit, MI for a business opportunity, living in Mt. Clemens and eventually moved to Waterford, MI. After her son took a position at a firm in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, she moved there to be closer to him in 2003. Three years later, she moved back to Louisville to be closer to the greater family, and she simply missed "home". Brenda never left her Old Kentucky Home again.
While at Atria Senior Living (Vitality), "she was a wonderful friend to all" and "she loved her job and everyone there loved her". Although Brenda's job was focused on front office administration, she took on many roles outside of her job description, such as holiday decorating, filling in and supporting the kitchen when it needed help even on days that she wasn't scheduled, and connecting and bonding with the residents on a level where they depended on her for an ear or a just good laugh. She will leave her work, home to several residents in the sunset of their life, with a lasting and positive legacy.
Brenda loved being with family, with friends, and was always open to meeting new people and exchanging stories. When her son, Brian, was a teenager before he and his friends could drive, she would always offer to drive them to the local cinema, skating rink, or mall. Brian's friends always talk about this over the years about her generosity and interest in their enjoyment and growth.
Most of all, Brenda bonded with all of our canine friends: of all sizes, shapes, and of all persuasions. Soon after moving back home to Louisville in 2005, she brought two shelter dogs from Steamboat Springs, Colorado, then took on an additional pet, CoCo (above). For the next final 10 years of her life, she was dedicated to those three dogs and everyone from her office.
In lieu of flowers, although flowers will be accepted, donations are preferred to the
Kentucky Humane Society or to your local humane society.
A second Celebration of Life is being arranged by her son this summer in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, to include all of her Rocky Mountain friends.
