Brenda Kay Baucum, 65, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Thursday, September 28, 2023. Brenda was a loving and devoted wife, mother, Mamaw, Grandma, sister, aunt and friend. She was a dedicated employee spending many years of service at KFC, Solectron, Outer Loop Child Care, and Leap Frog Academy. Brenda was a wonderful teacher and was affectionately known as Mamaw to every child in her care. She enjoyed spending time at the lake, tanning, and reading Danielle Steele novels. Brenda was most famous for her Karaoke nights, singing Who Let The Dogs Out. She enjoyed spending time tending to her garden, and making memories with her husband, cats, dog, Max and family. Brenda was an avid UK and Dallas Cowboy fan. She was a master at baking chocolate cake, peanut butter fudge and no bake cookies. Brenda will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing her.
She was born on May 7, 1958 in Louisville, Kentucky to Louise (Bohannon) Shelton. She is preceded in death by her mother, Louise Shelton; father, William Shelton; and grandson, Bradley Decker.
Brenda is survived by her loving husband of 27 years, Troy Howard Baucum, Jr., children, Donald (Abby) Decker, William (Toi) Decker, Stephanie Mallard, Christopher (Jessica) Potts, Sr.; grandchildren, Trevor Decker, Sheyanne Decker, Michael V. Moffit, Elijah Decker, Toimaii Pruitt, Easia Decker, Egypt Decker, William Isaiah Mallard, Kayla Snellen, William Pruitt, IV, Paris Decker, Royalty Decker, Christopher Potts, Jr.; siblings, Faye (Kenny) Holthouser, Doug (Sue) Franklin, Jerry Franklin, Glenda Denton, Shirley (Joe) Montgomery, Curtis Franklin; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends to cherish her loving memory forever.
Visitation will be on Friday, October 6, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m and on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Southwest Louisville Chapel, 10304 Dixie Highway. A celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Southwest Louisville Chapel.
