Boyd Gayron Holder, died on August 1, 2022, after battling a prolonged illness at Park Terrace Health Campus in Louisville, Kentucky. He was born January 31, 1935, in Buford, Texas, the son of Benjamin Randolph (B.R.) Holder, Jr. and Elsie Hazel (Banks) Holder.
Boyd faithfully served our nation in the United States Navy from 1953 to 1957. He completed his active military service honorably as an electrician's mate, 2nd class, on board the USS Princeton (CVS-37) earning the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal, the China Sea Service Medal, the United Nations Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal.
Boyd was married to Doris Arline (Smith) Deselms on July 2, 1979, in Phoenix, Arizona. They spent most of their married life together in Kingman, Arizona until her death on May 29, 2019.
In addition to his parents, Boyd was preceded in death by his older brother, Jack Wayland Holder, and his sister, Sharon Kaye (Holder) Blackwelder.
Survivors include his son, Stuart Loden Holder and his wife, Cindy, of Louisville, KY; two stepsons, Donald Deselms and his wife Gigi, of Prattville, AL, and their family, Daniel Deselms and his wife Debra, of Carson City, NV, and their family; two grandsons, Jason Thomas Holder and his wife, Bretta, and their family, Chad Aaron Holder and his wife Jessie, all of Louisville, KY; two great grandchildren, Savannah and Camden; and his younger brother, Donald Wayne Holder of Wichita Falls, TX.
Boyd's and Doris' ashes will be scattered together at the home of his eldest stepson, Don, in Prattville, AL, at a later date.
