Bobby Charles Runner, age 72, died at Baptist Hospital East in the Palliative Care Unit on May 23, 2014 surrounded by his family.
Born September 9, 1941 in Louisville, KY to Charles and Margaret Runner. Bobby attended elementary school at the Old Hikes Grade School in Buechel and graduated from Fern Creek High School in 1961. Bobby proudly served in the US Navy aboard the USS Ranger CV-61 until 1963. On August 14, 1965, he married the love of his life Carol Bissinger.
Bobby lived his entire life in Louisville and was self-employed, with his brother Gary, at Runner Guttering Company until his retirement in 2005.
Bobby was a devout Catholic throughout his life and a member of St. Pius X Parish.
Bobby will be especially remembered for his love of his wife, Carol; daughter, Kim; grandson, Mikey; and granddaughter, Kellie. Bobby had a special love of building and flying radio controlled airplanes with his friends from the airfield and maintained his RC Pilots License until his passing.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Carol (Bissinger); his loving daughter, Kimberly Sinclair (Paul), grandchildren, Eric (Mikey) and Kellie Sinclair; his mother, Margaret Runner; brother, Gary Runner; and his in-laws who loved him as their own, Buddy (Pat), Diane (Jim), Joanie (Joe), Teddy (Trina), Johnny (Felice), Donald (Jeanine), Scott (Katie).
Bobby was preceded in death by his father, Charles Runner, and beloved in-laws Patty, Michael and Leona.
Visitation will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home 235 Juneau Drive on Wednesday, May 28, 2014 from 1pm-7pm. There will be a private Funeral Service Thursday, May 29, 2014. Friends and family are welcome at the visitation.
Memorial contributions may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association of Louisville.
