Blake Alan Schmidt

Blake Alan Schmidt, 18, of New Salisbury, Indiana, passed away tragically on Friday, March 4, 2022. He was born on August 29, 2003, in New Albany, Indiana, to his loving parents, Dale and Trisha (Baylor) Schmidt and his loving brother, Dylan. Blake was known by his friends and family to have a mischievous nature and for being very softhearted. He had his own sense of style, especially with his jewelry, and was not easily influenced by others.

As a Senior at North Harrison High School, Blake loved spending time with his cousins, close friends, and beloved pet, Layland. He enjoyed his Heavy Equipment training at Prosser Vocational School and was looking forward to starting work at MAC Construction. He worked part time after school with close family friends, Kyle and Jeff, at their body shop. He was loved, so deeply, by his entire family and will be missed beyond measure. We know he is celebrating with his heavenly family and is in great hands with his Papaw Great, Vincent Schmidt.

Blake is survived by his loving parents, Dale and Trisha Schmidt; brother, Dylan; grandparents, Dale and Nina Schmidt, Frank and Nancy Banet, and Joel and Tammy Baylor; aunts, Michelle (Chris) Apple, Krista (Pat) Uhl, Nichole (Nik) Slaughter, Jennifer Baylor (Tony Long), Amanda (David) Cooper, and MaKenzie Baylor (Tanner Faulkenburg); and last, but not least, his adoring cousins, Ashton and Landon Nicholson, Nathan, McKenna, and Jake Cooper, Paislee and Brody Faulkenburg, Adam Uhl, and Caleb and Abby Slaughter.

Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 10, 2022, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - New Albany (3309 Ballard Lane). His Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 11, 2022, at the funeral home with a private burial service to follow for the family only at St. Mary's-Navilleton Catholic Cemetery.

The family requests that contributions in Blake's memory be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Breast Cancer Association.
