Birdie Swain Wyatt, 93, passed away on July 14, 2013. She was a native of Atlanta, GA and moved to Louisville at a young age. Birdie and her husband Hershey were founders and pastors of Greater Holy Unity Church in Louisville, KY, which was established 51 years ago. Birdie's 12 children were all saved and very involved in the ministry of their church and along with grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was very involved in the Evangelistic team at Christ Refugee Church also in Louisville. Birdie and her 4 sisters ministered through their music where they travelled to many churches singing the gospel. They were well known as the Swain sisters. Through Birdie's teaching and ministering she lead many to preaching the Word of God. The last few that came from her ministery were Pastor Norman Martin, Pastor Troy Holley, Elder Susan McBride and Pastor Lamont McKinney.
Birdie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Hershey Wyatt; 4 daughters; 4 sons and 3 sisters.
She is survived by sons, Terry (Jackie) Wyatt, Louisville, KY, Hershey Wyatt, Louisville, KY, Calvin Wyatt; daughter, Mildred (George) Richardson, Louisville, KY; 29 grandchildren; a host of great and great-great grandchildren; sister, Elizabeth Kilgore, Cordsville, IN and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Saturday, July 20, at Kingdom of God Tabernacle, 6710 Manslick Road from 11am-1pm with the funeral service at 1:00. Pastor Norman Martin will be officiating. Burial will be in Green Meadows Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family would like donations to be made to Kingdom of God Tabernancle.
