Billy Lee "Reddogg" Johnson

Billy Lee "Reddogg" Johnson, (Bill), age 67, passed away on Wednesday, December 25, 2024. He was born on November 26, 1957 in Riley, Kentucky. Bill was the eldest son of seven children. He is preceded in death by his Mother, Ruth Ella (Crowdus) Johnson. Bill displayed a natural inclination towards adventure from a young age, often performing daring feats that left friends and family in awe. He attended Marion County High School and joined the United States Army in July 1975. During his term, while serving our country he was stationed in Germany. After his European tour, Bill was honorably discharged from the Army, and returned home to Lebanon, Kentucky to work at Bourbon Cooperage.  He was the proud parent of one daughter Lanika Nichelle Edelen, and two grandchildren  LaTasia Johnson and Taylan Johnson.

Bill later moved to Louisville and for the majority of his career he worked at Henry Vogt Machine Company.  Bill was a renowned commentator who enjoyed discussing sports, current events, politics, and life while sitting in his favorite chair. He was a die-hard University of Louisville fan and a life-long Los Angeles Lakers fan. He was a dedicated follower of the team throughout his life, cheering on legends like Magic Johnson, Kobe Bryant, and LeBron James through countless victories and heartbreaks.

He enjoyed spending time with family and friends where his wit and charm allowed him the ability to connect with all people. Bill had a captivating personality that would light up a room. He brought a cheerful and lively atmosphere wherever he would go with his witty sayings and jokes. Bill was a true animal lover and took excellent care of his dog, Roscoe, II.

Following the teachings of Acts 2:38, Bill was baptized in Jesus name, at Star Bethel Church in Riley Kentucky under the leadership of the late Pastor Viola Knifley. He occasionally attended Greater Bethel Temple Apostolic Church and Peace Presbyterian Church. 

He is survived by his loving partner and best friend of 23 years Sheree Tyner; daughter, Lanika Edelen; siblings, Ruth Ann Fogle, Paulette Johnson, Kathy Graves (Ronald), Ronald Johnson, Sophia Johnson and Pamela White; grandchildren, LaTasia Johnson and Taylan Johnson and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends to cherish his memory forever.

Visitation will be Friday, January 10, 2025, from 10am-11am with a celebration of Bill's life beginning at 11am.

Bill will be laid to rest at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery-Central, 2501 N. Dixie Blvd., Radcliff, KY.
