Billy "Rob" Gilley, 70, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Friday, June 21, 2024. Rob was a devoted family man and reliable friend. He always had a joke to tell. He was an active member of Embury United Methodist Church for 40 years. He enjoyed volunteering with Boy Scouts, spending time with family, time outdoors, watching movies and tinkering in his workshop. Rob retired from Koetter Construction after 34 years.
He was born on September 3, 1953 in Frenchburg, Kentucky to the late William Gilley and Gladys Norris Gilley. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Clay Gilley; and his infant sister, Eleanor.
Rob is survived by his loving wife of nearly 49 years, Becky Gilley; children, Emily (Jonathan) Keith, Elizabeth (David) Slack, and Daniel Gilley; siblings, Lonnie Gilley, Deanna (Jay) Wiseman, Harold (Sherry) Gilley, Margaret (Charles) Parker, Wendy (Bob) Routh, Charlotte (Ray) Messmer, and Amy Whitehead; grandchildren, Vivian Slack, Benny Keith, Frankie Slack, and Eleanor Gilley.
A Memorial Gathering will be from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His Memorial Service will be at 6:00 pm on Tuesday, at the funeral home. Cremation was chosen following Rob's wishes.
