Billie Jean (Watson) McCormick, 82, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2013. She was a charter and the most senior member of Graceland Baptist Church in New Albany where she was very active serving in various ministries that included the nursery, singing in the choir, and the former president of the W.M.U. Billie taught junior girls for over 30 years, was a door greeter as long as her health permitted, and also enjoyed being a part of the church out reach program. She was a faithful warrior of the prayer list, and above all, loved her Lord and savior, Jesus Christ.
Billie was born on January 29, 1931 in Corbin, KY to the late Harry and Annie (Petrey) Watson. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband of over 52 years, Connie "Mack" McCormick.
She is survived by her two wonderful children, Phil "Bubba" McCormick (Denise), Connie Jean Schlieker (Daniel); siblings, Joann Logan, Joyce McCracken, Charles Watson; loving grandchildren, Brandy Jackson, Stacey Reed (Jason), Andy McCormick (Lori); and 5 great-grandchildren whom she adored, Katie Jackson, Ava and Mia Reed, Layla and Keaton McCormick.
Visitation will be on Sunday, March 10, 2013 from 12 PM to 6 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and on Monday from 9 AM to 11 AM at Graceland Baptist Church (3600 Kamer Miller Road, New Albany). Her Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM at the church with burial to follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hosparus – the Community Hospice of Southern Indiana or to the Children's Ministry program at Graceland Baptist Church.
