Betty Joan Cecil,known to her family and friends as "Jo" crossed over to eternal life on August 21, 2014 after a long battle with Alzheimer's.Jo was born on May 26, 1932 in Chicago, IL, where she lived with her parents Fred and Hazel Cecil; and sister, Marianne. She moved to Louisville while in grade school and has resided there since.Jo left behind two beloved children, Kathleen "Koppy" Rhodes and Stephen D. Rhodes; and her sister, Marianne Strange.
She was also survived by her daughter-in-law Amy; and four grandchildren, Savannah, Gracie, Christian and Gavin. Jo's greatest joy was being a mother and grandmother and had an endearing love for all animals. She was often seen walking her army of Pekingese in her younger days.Jo will be remembered for her genuine kindness and compassion for others. Her mind and body may have been taken but she never forgot love. Jo's heart and soul will forever be with us.A memorial service and Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, September 5, 2014 from 6-8 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home at 235 Juneau Drive in her honor.
