Betty Jane Hasting Smith

Betty Jane Hasting Smith, 90, of Eminence, KY passed away on Wednesday, June 12, 2024. Daughter of the late Wyatt Ferrell and Oma Miller Ferrell. Betty's many jobs included the Pillsbury Biscuit Factory in Louisville, the Powder Plant in Charlestown, IN, as a beautician in a beauty shop, and worked as a care giver at several local nursing homes, Cedar Lake Lodge, and Dreams with Wings. She was an avid card player, enjoying Rummy, Dice, Bingo and various card games. Betty also loved going to the beauty shop to get her hair washed and styled weekly.

She is preceded in death by her first husband, WB Hasting; her second husband, James K. Smith; daughter, Vivian Lynn Hasting Budd; step-son, Timothy Smith, Sr.; granddaughter, Daphnie Mangrum; parents, Wyatt and Oma Ferrell; sister, Geneva; and brothers, Raymond, George, and Billy Joe.

Betty is survived by her sons, Bernie (Nan), Ron, and Mike Hasting; step-son, James K. "Jamie" Smith, Jr.(Cathy); step-daughters, Debbie Fraze (Joe) and Cherie Smith; 20 grandchildren; and 43 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be on Monday, June 24, 2024 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Newcomer, East Louisville Chapel (235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, KY 40243). A service to celebrate Betty's life will follow that day at 12:00 PM at the funeral home.
