Betty Bernice Dillon

March 18, 1935 — June 20, 2024

Betty Bernice Dillon, 89, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family. She was a member of the Fern Creek Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, being baptized on December 1, 1972. She is preceded in death by her husband, William B. Dillon, Sr., parents, Junius and Christine Nevitt, siblings, Wilma Bewley (Frank), Junius Nevitt, Jr. (Mary Ann), Clark Nevitt (Ann), JC Nevitt (Loraine), Cecil Nevitt, and Gary Nevitt (Cindy). She is survived by her four children, William B. Dillon, Jr., Matthew Dillon, Dawn Dillon, and Michael Dillon (Lisa Dillon), granddaughters, Monica Dillon, Tracy Drew (John), and Leanna Baumgartener (John). She had five great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving are her remaining siblings, William Nevitt (Jo Ann), Dean Nevitt (Mary Jo), and Janie Barker (Richard).

Bernice was born in Meade County, Kentucky on March 18, 1935. She was the third of ten children. All who knew Bernice knew she was a hard worker, always looking out for the interests of others. Her kindness and generosity were legendary. Even though times were tough, she always shared what she had, leaving a beautiful example for her children to imitate.

She loved working in her yard, and was a seriously competitive Scrabble and Double Pinocle player! She was known for her hospitality and would feed anyone who entered into her home. Bernice was a nurse's aid for over 30 years, lovingly caring for others as they aged, until she herself begrudgingly retired at age 78!

Bernice loved her family and many friends. She loved learning about the truths she found in the Bible, especially learning that God has a personal name (Psalm 83:18). This she felt allowed her to develop a closer relationship with him. Also, the hope of God's promise of perfect life on a paradise earth was what comforted her as she declined (Psalm 37:9-11, 29). Her greatest wish was for her family members to just investigate, keeping an open mind, this wonderful hope.

Life will not be the same without her.

The Dillon and Nevitt families would like to express their profound gratitude for all the love and support shown to them during this difficult time. It really has been a blessing to see how many lives Bernice has affected through the years.
