Bethel Wade Jones passed away in his home on October 10 at the age 73.
He was a proud father of six, an Army veteran, and a member of St. Stephen Baptist Church. Bethel enjoyed playing chess, cooking, listening to music, and dressing sharp.
Bethel was born to William H. Jones and Ruth (Hines) Jones on January 31, 1950 in Louisville, Kentucky. He served in the U.S. Army from November 1969 to September 1972, during the Vietnam War, and later earned an Associate's degree in data processing from Jefferson Community College (JCC). He worked for the U.S. Postal Service for many years.
Bethel is survived by two siblings, Gloria A. Jones and Ronald Rashad Mahdi, Jr. (born Ronald V. Jones). He had five children with Antonia Ayers: Michael L. Jones (Melissa), Juanita Shackelford (Walter), Tracie M. Daugharty (Mark), William C. Jones (Camille), and Sir Francis Edward Ayers. And a son, Anthony L. Watts, with Mary Frances Watts.
Visitation for Bethel Wade Jones is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 28, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Southwest Louisville Chapel, 10304 Dixie Highway in Valley Station. The funeral will take place at 1 p.m.
