Bertha Josephine (Murphy) Dietrich, 85, passed away on Thursday, April 26, 2012 at Floyd Memorial Hospital.
She was born on January 10, 1927 to the late Edward L. & Bertha M. (Maire) Murphy in New Albany. Bertha had a love for music and had played guitar for many years with her brothers, nephew & friends. While playing they were known as The Midnight Ramblers. She was a member of the VFW Post 3281 and the American Legion Bonnie Sloan Post 28 Ladies' Auxiliaries.
Bertha is survived by her son, Kenny Weber (Jane) of Georgetown; daughters, Kay Swartz (Jim) of Depauw, Doris Rottet (Pat) of New Albany, Jeanine Rakes (Tom) of New Albany; sister, Mary Mahon (Al) of Sellersburg; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 8 great great-grandchildren; & many nieces, nephews and other relatives. Along with her parents, Bertha was preceded in death by her husband, John "Larry" Dietrich; daughters, Betty Bryant & Marilyn Ashley; and her brothers & sisters.
Her Visitation will be from 1 to 8 PM on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). Her Funeral Service will be at 1 PM Wednesday, May 2, 2012 in the Paul F. Kraft, Sr. Memorial Chapel at the funeral home with burial to follow at Forest Grove/Willy's Chapel Cemetery in Henryville, Indiana.
