Bernice Lee Gaines, 77, native of Shelbyville, KY, widower of Sue Bryant Gaines, passed away Sunday, October 9, 2023.
Born May 26, 1946, he was a son of the late Robert and Iva Gaines.
He was a boat detail technician since 1985, working alongside his family, operating their family detail business.
Other than his wife and parents and siblings, he is preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kelly Claypool; a great grandson, Brice McKinley Poindexter.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his children, Dennis Gaines (Kim), Margaret Jane Harris (Bruce), Lisa Johnson (Donnie), Shelly Gaines, Toby Gaines (Cindy), Freddie Cole (Lisa), and Kaneta Hinton; his grandchildren, Steven Poindexter, Sr., Jaymes Johnson, Michael Johnson, Amanda Johnson "the one and only", Thomas Gaines, Austin Gaines, Blake Gaines, Marshall Janes, Emily Mullins, and Wake Mullins; his great grandchildren, Steven Poindexter, Jr., Jessalyn Poff, Jaylyn Johnson, Craft Johnson, Ridge Johnson, and Kinlee Jane Roze Poindexter; his great great grandchildren, Jaxon Poindexter, Steven Poindexter, III and Yara Mullins; his great aunts, Taxi Morse and Irene Pearson; and a host of nieces, nephews and lots of very much loved friends.
A gathering of friends and family will be 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM Monday, October 16, 2023 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (235 Juneau Drive Louisville, KY 40243). Entombment will follow in Louisville Memorial Gardens – East.
