Bernard D. Ray, 79, of Louisville, passed away November 12, 2013 peacefully at his home.
He was born January 28, 1934 to the late Richard and Helen Ray. Bernard and Jean were united in marriage on May 16, 1953. He was an avid hunter and an active member of Quails Unlimited. Bernard was a retired concrete truck driver for IMI. Bernard served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1956. He enjoyed spending time with his three sons and grandchildren. He enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening.
Besides his parents, Bernard is preceded in death by one son Steven Ray and one sister Alicia French.
Bernard is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Jean Ray, two sons: Rodger (Jacilyn) Ray and Luke (Mary Beth) Ray; 12 grandchildren: Aaron, Jennilyn (Joe), Katie (Eric), Jason (Shannon), Michael (Terri), John, Tina, Brittany, Shawn, Ashley, Tyler, and Codie; 11 great-grandchildren: Kameron, Chandler, Travis, Jade, Gunnar, Derek, Josh, Chase, Keeley, Kylee, and Kenzee; 2 great-great grandchildren: Paislee and Peyton; 5 siblings: Barbara (Roscoe), Martha (Sam), Charlie (Mary), Richard (Charlotte), and Vivian; many nieces and nephews and other family members.
Visitation will held Thursday, November 14, 2013 from 1:00pm – 8:00pm at Newcomer Funeral Home – Southwest Chapel (10304 Dixie Hwy). Funeral Service will be held Friday, November 15, 2013 at 11:00am, with visitation beginning at 10:00am until time of service, also at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Bethany Memorial Cemetery.
