Bernard Beavin

Bernard L. "Joe" Beavin, Sr., 85, of New Albany, Indiana passed away on Wednesday morning, August 25, 2010. Joe was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He retired with over 25 years at P. Llorilard in Louisville, Kentucky and was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in New Albany.

Joe was born on December 25, 1924 in Clark County, Indiana to the late Leo and Edna (Newton) Beavin. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Bertha (Bir) Beavin and sisters, Irma Payne and Cornelia Hutchinson.

He is survived by his son, Bernard L. Beavin, Jr., and his wife, Nancy of New Albany and granddaughter, Laura Elizabeth Beavin of Claremont, California.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 PM on Friday, August 27, 2010 at Newcomer Funeral Home (formerly Generations Funeral Home, 3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). The Funeral Service is at 10 AM on Saturday, August 28, 2010 in the Paul F. Kraft, Sr. Memorial Chapel at the funeral home with private entombment at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
