Benjamin Walker Haney

February 3, 1995 — October 4, 2022

Benjamin "Ben" Walker Haney, 27, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on October 4, 2022. He was born on February 3, 1995 to Bill Walker Haney and Sheila Boone Haney in Louisville, Kentucky. He graduated from Walden High School, attended Indiana University Southeast, and was a dedicated boy scout, self-made auto mechanic, and most recently a service writer at Carmax.

Benjamin was known for his love of cars - particularly Mercedes. In this world there didn't exist a more knowledgeable or better auto mechanic than Ben. The majority of his days were spent on the road or lovingly laboring away in his garage – his refuge. His heart was pure and his relentless and immense love for his family, friends, and pets permeated his life. He was boundlessly hilarious and quick-witted, capable of making anybody laugh at any time.

He is preceded in death by his grandmother, Jeann Gevedon Haney Phelps (Charlie Phelps); his grandfather, Joseph Walker Haney; and most recently by his cousins, Tracie Potter Hackworth and Jack Joseph Stahl.

Benjamin is survived by his father, Bill Walker Haney; his mother, Sheila Boone Haney ("Big S"); his sisters, Mitzi Maria Haney and Sarah Nicole Haney ("Sarah-Beara-Poopa-Haira"); his grandmother, "Mamaw" Billie Rhea Boone; his beloved cat Willy; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends - all of whom will forever cherish his memory.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 11th from 3pm-8pm. Benjamin's family plans to open the floor on Tuesday evening for his family and friends to share memories.

A service to celebrate Benjamin's life will be held on Wednesday, October 12th at 1pm. Visitation and funeral will be hosted by Newcomer Cremations, Funerals, and Receptions in Middletown (235 Juneau Drive).

The funeral will be followed by a burial ceremony at 2:30pm at Crosswater Gardens (7110 Billtown Road).

If you are unable to attend the funeral service in person, Benjamin's family welcomes you to watch the livestream through the Newcomer website by clicking here.

Benjamin will forever be our son, grandson, brother, and friend. His family believes that he would have wanted everyone in his life to remember his senior quote from high school:

"And in the end, it's not the years in your life that count, it's the life in your years."
- Abraham Lincoln
