Benjamin Eric Buschmann left his earthly home on August 11, 2014 after a valiant battle with acute myeloid leukemia. His passing was peaceful, surrounded by his loving family.Ben was born to Merilyn Strong Buschmann and Warren Buschmann on March 14, 1969 in Mtn View,California. He attended high school at Seneca in Louisville and in Murray Utah and college at University of Kentucky. He took his greatest pleasures in family, music, guitar, camping, friends, and his dog.
In his short life he enjoyed traveling in this country that he loved, having lived in California, Utah, Hawaii, and Florida. However, he loved Kentucky the most and always considered it home.
Ben earned his living in exterior home maintenance, specializing in roofing, gutter, and window replacement. He was particularly talented in his ability to locate and repair elusive roof leaks, and was also known as a copper craftsman adding to the beauty of several homes in the Louisville area.
He will certainly be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, robust laugh, and booming voice, and his endless "old sayings" that seemed to fit all occasions. He will also be remembered for his wonderful musical talent. A self-taught guitarist that found endless pleasure in composing and recording music and serving as lead guitarist for his band "The Killer Lips." Playing music for this band gave him great happiness as well as for those who were lucky enough to hear him play.
Ben was preceded in death by Rubye (Granny) and Merill Strong of Louisville, KY and Buelah and Henry Buschmann of Modesto, California.
Left behind to cherish his beautiful memory, his loving mother Merilyn Strong of Louisville and daughter Alexis Marie Buschmann and son Zachary Alan Buschmann also of Louisville. Our hearts are broken. He also leaves behind aunts and uncles, Bud and Linda Bryant, Alan and Anita Strong; cousins, Sharon Bell and Joan Smith, Shelby and Hunter Strong, Julie Lovewell, and many friends along with Skully, his loyal black labrador. Ben will be greatly missed by many.
We ask all family and friends to join us for a celebration of Ben's life on Saturday August 16, 2014 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville,KY from 2-4pm with a memorial service to follow.
We also wish to express our gratitude to the physicians at Baptist East Hospital and the nursing staff who not only cared for his physical needs but clearly loved him during his three months as a patient.
