It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Benita A. Humphrey, a beloved wife, mother, and cherished member of our community, who left us peacefully on April 1, 2025, in Louisville, KY, surrounded by her loving family. Born on January 18, 1958, in Louisville, she was a beacon of joy and compassion throughout her life.
Benita dedicated many years to serving local hotel groups as Executive Housekeeping Supervisor, where her meticulous nature and diligent work ethic earned her the respect and affection of her colleagues. Upon her retirement, she devoted herself to her family and home, embracing her true passion of nurturing and caring for those she loved. She attended Manuel High School and furthered her education, setting an inspiring example for her family.
Known for her fun-loving spirit, energy, and unwavering honesty, Benita had a magnetic personality that touched the lives of all who knew her. She thrived in the presence of others, relishing in lively conversations and joyous gatherings. Music filled her heart, and her love for sewing became a cherished outlet for her creativity. Whether it was hosting family parties or meticulously cleaning her home, Benita found immense joy in creating a warm and welcoming environment for her loved ones.
A devoted mother, Benita's proudest accomplishment was watching her family grow. Her husband, Walter Humphrey, her daughter, Takiyah Betts, and her son, Anthony Bullitt were the joys of her life. She was their steadfast supporter, always ready to lend an ear and offer sage advice, thereby becoming everyone’s sounding board and unwavering source of help.
Benita is lovingly remembered not only by her immediate family but also by a wide circle of friends and neighbors whose lives she enriched with her kindness. She is predeceased by her parents, John Bullitt and Anna E. Patterson, who surely welcomed her with open arms.
Friends and family will gather to honor Benita’s life at St. Stephen Church, located at 1018 S 15th St, Louisville, KY 40210. Visitation will take place on April 12, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
In this time of reflection, we celebrate Benita's legacy of love, laughter, and strength. Her spirit will forever remain alive in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
