Barney A. Gatton

Barney A. Gatton, 59, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, May 15, 2022.

He was born on May 16, 1962 in Louisville, Kentucky to George and Lorine (Lykins) Gatton. He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, George R. Gatton, Jr., and niece, Kelly Gatton.

Barney was a master mechanic/machinist that could fix anything and was a modern day McGyver. In his younger years he worked the pit crew at Lou Speedway and enjoyed fishing and riding his bike, often riding over 100 miles for fun. He liked going to Hoops to grab a daily special and a few beers with his friend Bill after a hard week at work. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

Barney is survived by his daughter, Caitlin M. (Jeread) Abner; daughter, Courtney E. Zurschmiede; son, Sean T. Elder; 5 grandchildren, Steven Quinn Meyer, Olive R. Abner, Owen W. Zurschmiede, Juniper E. Abner & Everett R. Abner; 3 sisters, Jackie Carroll, Georgia Gatton & Tammy Gatton; 7 nieces, Jennifer, Crystal, Christy, Misty, Shelby, Marty & Danielle; 4 nephews, Johnathan, Robert, James & Dalton; 14 great nieces & nephews.

Visitation will be from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm with a Funeral Ceremony at 3:00 pm on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - New Albany, (3309 Ballard Lane).
