Barbara Wolford

Barbara Sue (Short) Wolford, 75, passed away on Wednesday, November 27, 2013. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Barbara was a member of the American Legion post #28 and loved her career as a nurse by dedicating her life taking care of others while being the director of nursing at Wedgewood Manner and St. Matthew's Manner Nursing Homes.

She was born on March 7, 1938 in Harlan County, Kentucky, to the late David and Lora (Stewart) Short. She was also preceded in death by her son, Owen Scott Short, and brother, David Short.

Barbara is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Jesse Almon Wolford; daughters, Denise Lynn Wolford and Pamela Kaye John; brothers, Charles Short (Barb) and Ronald Short (Diane); sisters, Patsy Harmon and Billie Bailey (Eric); five grandchildren; and one great grandchild.

Visitation will be from 2 to 6 PM on Sunday, December 1, 2013 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). Her Funeral Service will take place at 1 PM on Monday in the chapel at the funeral home with burial to follow at Milltown Cemetery in Milltown, Indiana.

Memorial contributions may be made to the National Parkinson Foundation (1501 N.W. Ninth Avenue/Bob Hope Road, Miami, Fl. 33136).
