Barbara Mueller, 87, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Monday, January 15, 2024.
Barbara was born on October 19, 1936 in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Walter "Bob" and Gladys (Hopewell) Cummings. She is also preceded in death by grandson, Jason Daly.
Barbara is survived by her loving husband of 68 1/2 years, Theodore "Gene" Eugene Mueller, children, Robert "Robbie" Eugene Mueller (Mary), Robin M. Carpenter (John); five grandchildren, Ange Martin (Jason), Tyler Mueller (Kelley), Ryan Carpenter (Stephanie), Michael Daly (Amanda), Tim Carpenter (Lydia); eight great-grandchildren, Reagan Yoakem (Andrew), Keelie Martin, Zoe Martin, Cameron Martin, Layla Mueller, Luka Mueller, Madi Stewart, Walker Daly; and great-great grandchildren, Leona Carpenter, Magnolia Carpenter, Jase and Lainey Yoakem. She is also survived by her sister, Darlene Norwood (George) as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Barbara was a protective, loving wife, mom, grandmother, "BAM", aunt, and friend. She was very matter-of-fact, so if asked, she wouldn't sugar coat her response. She loved sports and played softball as a young woman. Her and Gene's proposal was actually on the softball field and they enjoyed watching and cheering us all on throughout their lives. Barbara took much pride in her home and making it a welcoming place for all to gather. She loved to cook, entertain, garden, and make holidays as special as possible for all to enjoy.
She loved her "Gene". They enjoyed golfing, going to sporting events, and their "snowbird" home in Englewood, Florida, where they met many friends who became their family away from home. Despite medical challenges in recent years, Barbara continued to enjoy her family and friends and cherish their time together until the very end.
It was Barbara's desire to be cremated and the family plans to hold a private celebration of life at a later date to celebrate what would have been the couple's 69th anniversary.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Barbara's memory may be made to Hosparus of Louisville or a local charity of choice.
