Mattingly, Barbara Joan, 71, of Louisville died Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at Meadowview Health & Rehabilitation Center.
She was born January 2, 1941 to Joseph Melvin and Anna Geraldine (Able) Mattingly. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Edward Mattingly, Sr. and sister Janice E. Mattingly.
She is survived by her nephews and niece and their families; Chuck (Tina) Mattingly, Duke, Ty, Jack and C.J. of Harlingen, TX; Meredith (Scott) Brown, Ariel, Zachary and Jacob of The Woodlands, TX; Joe (Wendy) Mattingly, Emma, Sam and Luke of Magnolia, TX; and cousin Betty (Ed) Schreiner of Henderson, KY. She is also survived by her Catholic faith community, Church of the Epiphany, where she was a member of the weekly Rosary group, Sages, choir, small Christian Community, and attended many peace and justice events. Very important to Barbara was her Sts. Mary and Elizabeth lab family with whom she worked for 30 years as a Medical Technologist (ASCP) SBB.
Barbara's funeral will be at Epiphany Catholic Church, 914 Old Harrods Creek, Anchorage, on Friday, January 27, 2012 at 3:00pm. Visitation will be from 11:30 to 2:30pm at Epiphany with Rosary at 1:00pm followed by storytelling. Burial will be at Highlands Memorial Gardens in Mt. Washington, Saturday January 28, 2012 with funeral procession leaving for the cemetery from Newcomer Funeral Home, 235 Juneau Drive, Middletown at 9:00am.
