Barbara Ann Hester

April 3, 1936 — December 29, 2022

Barbara Ann Hester passed away on Thursday, December 29, 2022. She was a native of Evansville, Indiana, and lived most of her life in the Louisville, Kentucky area. For the past five years, she resided in Southern Indiana to be nearer to family.

Barbara was born April 3, 1936, to Marvin and Helen (Walters) Leachman in Evansville. She is survived by her three children, Kathy (Jerry) Copas, Steven (Hanji) Hester, and Michael Hester; and grandsons, Spencer Copas, and Thomas, William, and Robert Hester.

Barbara was a dedicated mother and homemaker and loving wife to her husband, Nick Cleatus Hester. They were married for 63 years until his death in 2017. Barb and Nick were high school sweethearts in their hometown of Evansville and were bestowed with the royal titles of King and Queen of their senior prom!

For Barb and Nick, those early days living in cold places like Minnesota and North Dakota fostered dreams of retiring to someplace warm and tropical. They were drawn to Florida's Gulf Coast, where they spent their retirement years "living the dream." They bought a sunny home on a golf course, enjoying the tropical breezes and evening cocktails.

In recent years, Barbara has endured the challenges of Alzheimer's disease. She will be interred alongside Nick in their hometown of Evansville at a private ceremony.

The family requests that contributions in Barbara's memory be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Greater Kentucky and Southern Indiana (6100 Dutchman's Lane, Suite 401 Louisville, KY 40205).
