Barbara Jean Gortney, 90, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, November 19, 2022.
She was born on December 5, 1931 in Muhlenberg County, Kentucky to Silas and Oneda (Carver) Henderson. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers, Donald and Robert Henderson.
Barbara retired from Wheeling Corrugating Company and was a long time member of Southwest Assembly of God. In her free time she enjoyed going to Rough River, playing practical jokes on members of the church; especially on her
Pastor. Barbara was even a clown, she went by Melody. She enjoyed keeping up with politics, going out to eat and spending time with her friends and family. She will be remembered for so much by so many, but most of all she will be remembered for the love she had for her family and her love and devotion for God.
Barbara is survived by her loving children, Paula Cunningham and Tim (Robin) Brink, grandchildren, Heather Roberts, Nicole Brink, Amber Parihus, Erin Mical Sandman Asahara, great grandchildren, Gavyn Roberts, Devyn Roberts, Destyni Ross, Micah Spencer, Gage, Serenity and Jace Parihus, along with great great grandchildren, Aria Ross and Octavia Asahara.
Her Memorial Service will be at Southwest Assembly of God (4998 Valley Station Rd. Louisville, KY 40272) on Friday December 2nd, 2022 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
The family requests that contributions in Barbara 's memory be made to her church, Southwest Assembly of God 4998 Valley Station Rd, Louisville, KY 40272 .
