Barbara Jean Eubanks

October 7, 1934 — August 13, 2022

Barbara Thompson Eubanks. "Mother – Granmama" age 87, passed away Saturday, August 13, 2022 in Tupelo, MS, formerly of Louisville, KY. She joins her husband of 69 years, James Eubanks, Sr. They are united together with their precious Lord Jesus Christ now and forevermore. Barbara is survived by her son, James Eubanks, Jr. (Patti), son, Shand Eubanks (Ronnie), daughter Linda Marshall (Joe), 13 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and sister-in-law, Betty Enoch.

Barbara grew up in Birmingham, AL, attending Ramsay High School. She was a talented majorette and cheerleader, catching the eye of her sweetheart and football captain, Jim. They were married shortly after graduation on August 21, 1953.

Raising a young family, Barbara worked a variety of jobs, caring for the children while Jim frequently traveled for work. She was a devoted, hardworking wife and mother, providing an environment of stability and structure laced with love. Her tender, selfless discipline at home allowed Jim to be the outgoing servant of his family and friends that people knew and loved. She was so generous, a host who made serving a meal to a large group of people look effortless. She was a fabulous cook, single-handedly providing every holiday meal and numerous Friday-night fish fries.

Barbara loved bowling, cross-stitch, and fast-food dates. One of her favorite past-times was going to the movies, most regularly with her son, Jim Eubanks, Jr. She had a spunky personality, quick-witted and funny. She made those around her feel at peace with her sense of fun and atmosphere of love and care.

She was a follower of Jesus Christ, supporting and encouraging Jim, Sr. as he taught Sunday School. She provided meals for her church on a regular basis. She also led as a den mother for the Cub Scouts. She loved listening to praise and worship music, seeking to honor God in every role she served. Her faith, family, and Sissy dogs were most dear to her heart.

Barbara has left to cherish her memory her loving children, James Eubanks, Jr. (Patti), Shand Eubanks (Ronnie) and Linda Marshall (Joe); 13 grandchildren, Shelly Miller (Jeremy), Kimberly Campbell (Philip), TJ Eubanks (Stephany), Mona Favaron (Jacob), Jessie Kilpatrick (Josh), Allie Eubanks, Randi Warmath (Andrew), Todd Eubanks, Micah Eubanks, Jamie Dorr (Jake), Geena Marshall and Casey Fox (Brian); 21 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Betty Enoch; and a host of family and friends.
