Barbara "Bobbie" Ann Rooney Schaefer

Barbara "Bobbie" Ann Rooney Schaefer, 84, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Monday, January 20, 2025. Bobbie was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and Oma. She was the love of her husband's life, and his number one. Bobbie was a talented and accomplished seamstress. She was an avid bowler, enjoyed spending time reading and working puzzles with her grandchildren. Bobbie was very involved with the Girl Scouts serving as a leader and volunteer. She served on the PTA for her children all through their education. Bobbie will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing her.

She was born on September 4, 1940 in Louisville, Kentucky to George and Mildred (Eilenberger) Rooney. Along with her parents, she is preceded  in death by her grandmother, Alda Eilenberger.

Bobbie is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, George Robert Schaefer; son, Terry L. Schaefer; daughter, Shannon A. Schaefer; grandchildren, Christian R. (Nicole) Schaefer, Kelly H. Schaefer; great-grandchildren, Elliott Schaefer, Collins Schaefer; as well as a host of several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, in-laws, extended family and friends to cherish her loving memory forever.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 28, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Southwest Louisville Chapel, 10304 Dixie Highway. Her Funeral Service will be at 11:00 am on Wednesday, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel with burial to follow at Bethany Memorial Cemetery in Louisville, Kentucky.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions in Bobbie's memory be made to the Kentucky Humane Society, the WHAS Crusade for Children, or the World Wildlife Foundation.
