Barbara Bell(Hancock) Combs

Barbara (Hancock) Combs, 93, entered into eternal life on Sunday, August 17, 2014. She was born in Little Creek, Virginia and later married the late Ewell Combs and moved to Elizabeth, Indiana, where they settled and raised their family.

She was a homemaker, Quality Control Inspector for Olin Mathieson, a 4-H leader, RSVP volunteer, and a member of the Presbyterian Church of the Covenant in Elizabeth.

Barbara is survived by her children, Janet Campbell, Shirley Rice, Bob Combs, all of New Albany, Patty Pangburn of Sellersburg, and Christine Combs (Jim) of Downers Grove, IL; 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Mabel Seagle of Virginia, and Martha Gittle of New York.

Visitation will be 2 to 8 PM Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and on Thursday after 9 AM at her church. Her Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM Thursday, at Presbyterian Church of the Covenant in Elizabeth, with burial to follow in Glenwood Cemetery.

The family requests memorial gifts can be made to the Church of the Covenant or to Hosparus – the Community Hospice of Southern Indiana.
