Ashell Jan Edwards, 52

Ashell Jan Edwards, 52, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away, Thursday, August 15th, 2013 at Jewish Hospital surrounded by his loved ones.
Visitation will be held 3:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 19 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, Kentucky, 40243. Service will be held following visitation, Tom Price will be officiating.

Ashell was born June 23, 1961 in Louisville, Kentucky to Georgia Mae Fortney (Stewart) of Hazard, Kentucky and Estel Boyd Edwards of Danville, Kentucky. He was an active and proud member of Alcoholics Anonymous, celebrating 24 years of sobriety. He enjoyed AA meetings, his son's football games, spending time with his children, grandson, and close friends.

Ashell is survived by his four children, Brittney Edwards, Carly Edwards, Tyler Edwards and Collin Edwards; One grandchild, Carson Emerson; Six siblings, Walter Fortney and wife Linda, Ronald Fortney and wife Judy, James Fortney and wife Jan, Charles Fortney, Kenny Fortney, and sister Lisa Dentith (Edwards), as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Georgia Mae Fortney (Stewart) and first born son, Ethan Alexander Ashell Edwards (1997).

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully asks donations be sent to Ashell's children. Donations can be mailed to the Edwards family at 7300 Henze Road, Evansville, IN 47720.
