Arthur William Carew, 93, of Louisville, Kentucky, went home to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, November 3, 2020. He was born on August 3, 1927 in Shelbyville, Indiana, to the late William and Ethel Carew. He proudly served in the Army and National Guard, achieving the rank of Second Lieutenant. Art graduated from Purdue University in 1956 with a Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering.
Following his graduation, he began a 34 year career with General Electric working as a Design Engineer, Production Engineer and Quality Control Manager. Through his work, Art was able to travel extensively throughout Asia, Europe and South America, becoming a true world traveler. After retiring from General Electric, he worked as a consultant in various locations around the world. He and his wife, Kaye, enjoyed travelling together and took every opportunity afforded to them. Art enjoyed playing golf in his spare time.
Art was a strong Christian. This Christian ethic is reflected through his family and the people whose lives he touched. He served the Lord as both a Sunday School teacher and Deacon for over forty years. He was a caring and loving husband and father, thoroughly enjoying spending time with his family.
Art is preceded in death by his first wife, Lois Jeanne Perkins Carew and granddaughter Laina Carew.
He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Kaye Carew; children, Michael Carew (Tamara), Kathlyn Carew (Jim), Mark Carew (Judy), Kimberly Kettring, Abbi Murray (Len), Bradley Gray (Debbie); six grandchildren, Emily Liles, Sean Kettring, Alessandra Carriero, Nicola Carriero, Nathan Carew, Shelby Gray and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Bob Carew.
Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 pm on Monday, November 9, 2020 at Duncan Memorial Chapel, (5600 Old Floydsburg Road, Crestwood, KY 40014) with burial to follow at Floydsburg Cemetery.
The family requests that contributions in Art's memory be made to the American Cancer Society or Kosair Children's Hospital.
