Arlen Chester Vanhoose, 76, of Bardstown, Kentucky passed away peacefully, August 26, 2024 in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 8, 1948 in Pike County, Kentucky to the late Everett and Zeda Vanhoose. Arlen learned the machinist trade in Michigan. He then became a very successful entrepreneur and established Area Machine Products, Inc. along with his wife, Mardy Vanhoose, located in Louisville, Ky. He was an avid gardener, outdoorsman, and care taker of his four legged children. He enjoyed spending time at Lake Cumberland on his houseboat with his family and good friends. Arlen cherished every moment spent with his wife and son, making memories that will last a lifetime.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Kermit Ray Vanhoose, and Junior Vanhoose; two sisters, Juanita Collins and Pat Reece; one brother in law, Dallas Wright.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Mardy Jo Vanhoose; one son, Joshua Tyler Vanhoose (Baylee Cissell); sister in law, Wilma Vanhoose; niece, Missy (Butch) Simmons, and Angela Vanhoose; Nephew, Ray Vanhoose; great-nieces, Emilee (Nathan, Raylee) Riggsby, Lindsey Simmons, Natalie (Tanner, Emmett) Moore, and Autumn (Brian, Madison) Rose; great-nephews, Brian Wright and Zach Evans.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 from 12:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Southwest Louisville Chapel, 10304 Dixie Highway. A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
The family requests that memorial contributions in honor of Arlen be made to St. Jude's Children Research Hospital.
