Anthony L. Thomas Sr.

Anthony "Tony" Thomas, 84, passed away Saturday, January 20, 2024, with his wife, children, grand and great-grand children at his side. Tony worked for the Archdiocese starting in his teens and later doing maintenance at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church from 1965 until he retired in 2014. He was a loving husband, dad, papaw, brother, uncle and friend. He worked a lot to provide for his family, while giving to others when he could. Tony was known for his playful nature.

He was born on July 1, 1939 in Louisville, Kentucky to Emmanuel and Virginia (Tabler) Thomas. He is preceded in death by his Father, Emmanuel A. Thomas, Mother, Virginia Ann Thomas, Siblings, Melvin Sample, Lawrence Thomas, John Thomas, Patrick Thomas, Josephine Little, Mae Spradling, and Jeffrey Thomas.

Tony is survived by his loving Wife of 60 years, Garnetta Thomas; Children, Anthony L. Thomas, Jr., Gary L. Thomas, Anna M. (Eugene) Meier, Karen R. (Justin) Turner-Davis, and Michael Thomas; Grandchildren, Tiffany Davis, Amanda Medley, and Branden Turner; Great-Grandchildren, Julyen Evans, Michael Davis, Julius Collier, Jaydes Collier, Justin Davis, II, and Daisy Bishop; Sister, Dorothy Taylor, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends. Visitation will be from 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Sunday, January 28, 2024 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel, (10304 Dixie Hwy) and visitation will continue on Monday from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. His Funeral Service will be at 1:00 pm on Monday, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel with burial to follow at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel in Louisville, Kentucky.
