Our eloquent Annella Kay (Katie) Chaney joined the angels to watch over us on Wednesday, April 26, 2023. She was in her home in Louisville KY. Katie was born July 7, 1955 to Pete and Darlene Nicklson in Arbyrd, Mo.
Katie graduated from Doniphan High School and married Raymond Hodo in 1973. Katie later moved to Louisville, KY where she got her degree in criminal justice at the University of Louisville. She worked at AAA as a driver instructor and later in other service-related roles. Katie was a sharp and strong employee. Her efforts will help pave the way for females for years to come. Katie served many years and had multiple positions in the Wilder Park Neighborhood Association. She had a softness to her voice that didn't prepare you for her wit. She was the perfect blend of firmness and humor. She was the perfect combination of Pete and Darlene. Katie was preceded in death by her parents, Pete and Darlene Nicklson, brothers Anthony Nicklson and Russell Powell and nephew Casey Nicklson.
Katie's surviving relatives are sister, Marcella Fletcher; brother-in-law, Mathey Fletcher; brothers, Johnnie Nicklson, and Lonnie Nicklson; sister-in-law, Cheryl Powell; dear friends, Raymond Hodo, David Reece, Lila Lloyd, and John and Pat Gross; nieces and nephews, Tina Smith, John Fletcher, Keegan Nicklson, Courtney Smith, Angie Hargrove, Holly Hackett, Adam Powell; several great nieces, nephews, cousins; and a host of relatives and friends.
A gathering to celebrate Katie's life will be from 1 to 3 pm Saturday, July 15, 2023 at Newcomer Cremations Funerals and Receptions, East Louisville Chapel, 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, Kentucky 40243.
