Anna Lee (Libs) Gesenhues, 82, of Floyds Knobs passed away on Wednesday, June 8, 2011. Anna Lee was a member of St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church in Floyds Knobs and a former dispatcher for Bob Smith Trucking Company. She was an excellent seamstress and cook—always ready to try something new.
Anna Lee was born on October 29, 1928 in Floyds Knobs to the late Martin and Caroline (Zimmerman) Libs. She is preceded in death by her husband, Odell P. "Sam" Gesenhues and sisters, Bertha Eckert, Mary Morthorst, and Dorothy Sprigler.
She is survived by her daughters, Linda Gesenhues of New Albany and Lisa Mefford (Charlie) of Georgetown, Indiana; brothers, Raymond Libs (Mary) and Irvin Libs (Jane), all of Floyds Knobs; sisters, Sr. Dolorita Libs, OSB of Ferdinand, Indiana, and Evelyn Baumann of New Albany; granddaughter, Casey Baker (Sam); and great grandson, Noah Baker.
The family extends special gratitude to the staff of Autumn Woods Health Campus for their tender care and to Travis Buchanan and Ruth Mosier whom she dearly loved.
Visitation will be from 1 to 8 PM on Sunday, June 12, 2011 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) with a Prayer Service at 4 PM. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM on Monday at St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
