Ann Christine Hanshaw

September 10, 1961 — September 2, 2023

Ann Christine (Hays) Hanshaw, age 61, passed away peacefully and surrounded by her family on September 1, 2023.

Ann was born in Independence, Missouri to Paul and Linda Hays on September 10, 1961. She graduated from Ambassador University in Pasadena, California and married Bryan Hanshaw on July 1, 1984. Ann was a devoted mother to her son, Jacob who was born in 1992. In 2015, she retired from Advanced Marketing Insights, where she was a Director of Program and Financial Management.

Ann was passionate about women's issues and women's rights. She created a Votes for Women campaign to educate about the suffrage movement and to inspire women to exercise their right to vote. She also founded PersistPost with her sister, a small business offering pro-women designs.

Upon moving to Louisville, Ann embraced time in the outdoors, frequently visiting The Parklands to walk or bike. She also quickly discovered she enjoyed bourbon and became a member of the Bourbon Women Association. She enjoyed touring distilleries and could be found lingering in the rickhouses enjoying the smell of the angel's share.

Ann was a spiritual person and enjoyed a lifetime of discovery. She was a founding member of the Louisville Spirit of Sophia women's circle, an avid learner often sharing nuggets gleaned from her prolific reading, and a gourmet who loved to travel. Her last overseas trip was to her sister's home in Apricale, Italy.

Ann was very devoted to her family and friends with a keen focus on her "beloveds." Ann is survived by her spouse, Bryan Hanshaw, son Jacob Hanshaw, siblings Mary Tennant and Nathan Hays, four nieces and one nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents Paul Hays (1997) and Linda (Crumrine) Hays (2020).

A private memorial gathering of family will take place in Louisville on September 24th. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the International Justice Mission.
