Andrew Samuel Grizzle

Andrew "Andy" Grizzle of Elizabethtown, KY, passed away after a long illness. Andy was a devoted husband, father, brother, Papaw, and Great Papaw. He proudly served in the United States Army for 20 years, including tours in the Vietnam and Korean war. During his service, he earned numerous honors, such as the Honor Medal First Class, Presidential Unit Citation, Valorous Unit Award, Drill Sergeant Identification Badge, Good Conduct Medal (6th Award), Overseas Ribbon-3, NCO Professional Development Ribbon-3, Rifle M-16 Expert Qualification Badge, and Pistol Caliber .45 Expert Qualification Badge. After retiring from the military, Andy continued his service as a Civil Servant for over 20 years in the Armored Tank Division at Fort Knox, Kentucky. .

Andy had a passion for hunting, fishing, working in the garage, fixing things, and spending quality time with his large family, which includes 8 children, 24 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren. He loved traveling, especially spending winters in Florida, where he could fish, visit garage sales, and find new projects to work on in the warm weather. Andy also enjoyed attending soccer events across the USA.

Andy was born in Coeburn, VA, to the late Vaughn and Sophie Grizzle. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Paul and Joe, and his second wife, Lucille Grimes Grizzle.

Andy is survived by his wife of 10 years, Peggy Polley-Grizzle, and his sisters, Mary Bail and Bonnie Fields.
