Alvin R. Miller, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend, quietly passed away on October 9, 2024, in New Albany, Indiana. Born on February 27, 1942, he dedicated his life to his family and career, leaving behind a legacy that will forever be cherished by those who knew him.

For 40 years, Alvin devoted himself to Catalyst & Chemical/United Catalyst/Sud Chemie, demonstrating a remarkable work ethic and commitment to ensuring that his family was well taken care of. His willingness to take on additional jobs showcased his determination to provide a better life for his loved ones. Alvin's love for his family was evident in everything he did, embodying the spirit of sacrifice, hard work, and unwavering support.

Education was an important part of Alvin's life, having attended New Albany High School, where he may have first discovered his love for making others smile with his playful personality. He was known as a jokester, always ready with a laugh and a nickname for everyone he met. This lightheartedness created an atmosphere of joy and warmth that will be sorely missed by all.

Alvin's interests extended into the world of home improvements and caring for animals, hobbies that brought him tremendous satisfaction and allowed him to nurture beauty both around and within his home. He was a man of many talents and interests, passionate about making the world a brighter place.

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Carolyn Miller; his sons, Steven R. (Laura) Miller, Troy L. (Gyna) Miller, Mark A. Miller, and Scott (Maria) Miller; grandchildren, Kimberly, Stephanie, Megan, Melissa, Ian, Zoe, Mark Jr., Amber, Courtney, and Eli; and great-grandchildren, Lydia, Xavier, Hayden, and Saylor. Alvin shared cherished moments with his brother, Ralph W. Miller, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins who will remember him fondly.

Alvin is preceded in death by his parents, Roland and Dorothy F. Miller; his great-granddaughter, Saxon; and brothers, James, Bradley, Edward, and Gary Miller. Their memories remain alive in the hearts of all who loved him.

Alvin's family invites you to honor his memory during visitation on Friday, October 18, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 1:30 PM, followed by the funeral service at 1:30 PM, held at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southern Indiana, located at 3309 Ballard Ln, New Albany, Indiana. Entombment will follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany, Indiana.

As we say goodbye to a remarkable man, we are reminded of the laughter he brought into our lives, the lessons he imparted, and the love he shared. Alvin R. Miller will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
